Up Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Charthomp, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Up / "Up with Friends" mobile application (the "App").

Summary

  • We use your phone number to sign you in and run the App.
  • We store your profile, friend connections, and Up status so the App works.
  • We use push notification tokens to send notifications if you enable them.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the App.

Information you provide

  • Phone number, required for sign-in via SMS one-time passcode.
  • Profile information you choose to provide, including username and display name, and optional avatar URL if you add one.
  • Friend requests and connections, including requests you send or receive and accepted friendships.
  • Up status, including the emoji you set and its expiration time.
  • Push notification preferences, including your in-app preference.

Information collected automatically

  • Push notification token, including FCM or APNs token, to deliver notifications when your friends go "Up."
  • Temporary contact data when you use the "Find from Contacts" feature. We process phone numbers from your address book to find friends already on the App and do not store these numbers on our servers after matching is complete.

We do not collect precise location, analytics identifiers, or advertising identifiers in the current version of the App.

2. How We Use Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you by SMS.
  • Create and display your profile to other users.
  • Enable friend discovery, requests, and connections.
  • Show your Up status to eligible friends, only when you are Up.
  • Send push notifications when friends go Up, if enabled.
  • Maintain and secure the App.

3. How We Share Information

We share data only as needed to operate the App.

Service providers

  • Supabase, for authentication and database hosting, processes phone numbers, profiles, ups, and friend connections.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service process device push tokens to deliver notifications.
  • Firebase Messaging may also process app installation and device or app metadata needed to route and deliver notifications.
  • SMS delivery providers used by Supabase send one-time passcodes.

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for third-party advertising.

4. In-App Visibility

  • Limited profile information such as username and display name may be viewable by other users through friend discovery features in the App.
  • Your Up status is only visible to friends if they also have an active Up, per app rules.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. You can delete your account in the app, or request assistance by emailing charthompllc@gmail.com.

6. Your Choices

  • You can edit your username and display name in the App.
  • You can stop receiving push notifications by disabling them in iOS Settings or in the App.
  • You can delete your account and associated data in the app, or contact charthompllc@gmail.com for assistance.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including access controls and secure hosting providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. International Transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own. By using the App, you consent to such transfers where permitted by law.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Future Features

We may add features such as analytics, contacts import, group creation, location on Up status, or advertising. If we do, we will update this policy and, where required, request your consent.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date and provide notice within the App or by other appropriate means.
